What’s Sleep?!

With all the holiday fun, festivities and flitting around town, you may find this busy season leaves one area of your life sorely lacking. Yes, you may be lacking in that thing called sleep. Lack of sleep can annihilate your energy, concentration and positive attitude, turning you into one big Grinch.

We here at Sandstone Chiropractic compiled a quick list of tips to help you get the sleep you need to stay quick-witted and vibrant all season long.

Indulge in a Bedtime Sip or Snack

A warm cup of chamomile tea right before bed can do wonders for inducing slumber, as can certain snacks that contain tryptophan or magnesium. Try a small portion of turkey, or go with seeds, nuts, bananas or the long-acclaimed cup of warm milk.

Go Au Natural

While you may be tempted to grab for any one of the numerous over-the-counter sleep aids on the market, they can often come with unwanted side effects. Natural remedies and supplements are typically side-effect-free. Magnesium, GABA and valerian root are natural solutions often used to promote a good night’s sleep.

Create a Bedtime Ritual

You don’t have to be under the age of 12 to benefit from a sleep-inducing bedtime ritual. Try a warm bath about one hour before bed to help you relax and unwind. Reading can also calm a buzzing brain while helping you ease into a blissful state of sleepiness.

Even though TV, smartphone or other electronics use in bed has become the norm for many, the artificial light emitted from electronic devices can make it tougher for your body to shut down.

Treat Yourself to Chiropractic Care

Scheduling regular appointments at our Montgomery or Magnolia clinic can help soothe your entire being. Because chiropractic aims to reduce nerve interference, you may notice an enhancement in your body’s functioning as well as an improvement in your sleep.

Ready for deep, restorative slumber this holiday season? Call Sandstone or schedule your comprehensive exam with x-rays online.
